Terms of Service

The rules that apply when using Marathon Tanzania websites, apps, registrations and event services.

Effective date: 15 July 2026
By accessing or using Marathon Tanzania (MBIO), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The platform

Marathon Tanzania provides tools for discovering events, registering and paying, receiving tickets and updates, tracking runs, viewing results and engaging with running communities. Some events and services are provided by independent organizers or third parties.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. A parent or legal guardian must approve participation where required for a minor.

3. Event registrations

Each event may have its own eligibility rules, deadlines, categories, safety requirements, transfer policy and participant waiver. By registering, you also agree to the organizer's published event conditions. Event details may change because of weather, safety, permits or circumstances outside reasonable control.

4. Fees, payments and refunds

Prices are displayed before checkout and may include event fees, platform fees or applicable taxes. Payments may be processed by third-party providers. Refunds, cancellations, transfers and deferrals are governed by the policy shown for the relevant event unless applicable law requires otherwise.

5. Health and safety

Running and race participation involve physical risk. You are responsible for deciding whether you are medically and physically able to participate, preparing appropriately and following organizer, official and emergency instructions. Tracking, route and safety features are supportive tools and are not substitutes for professional medical care, emergency services or sound judgment.

6. GPS and performance information

Distance, pace, elevation, route, calorie and coaching information may be affected by device accuracy, connectivity, environment and user settings. We do not guarantee that tracking or training information is complete or suitable for medical, safety or competitive adjudication purposes.

7. Acceptable use

You may not misuse the service, interfere with security, access another person's account, submit false registration information, manipulate race results, upload unlawful or harmful content, scrape the platform without permission or use it to violate any law or third-party right.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit. You give Marathon Tanzania a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, display and share that content as necessary to operate features you choose. You must have the rights required to submit the content.

9. Intellectual property

The Marathon Tanzania name, branding, software, design and platform content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except where expressly permitted, you may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from the platform.

10. Third-party services

The platform may link to or integrate with organizers, payment providers, maps, social networks and other third parties. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their services, and we are not responsible for content or actions outside our control.

11. Suspension and termination

We may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address fraud, security risk, legal requirements, harmful conduct or serious violations of these terms. You may stop using the service at any time.

12. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or that every event listing is error-free. To the extent permitted by law, Marathon Tanzania is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for acts and omissions of independent event organizers and third-party providers.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. The parties should first try to resolve disputes in good faith. Courts with appropriate jurisdiction in Tanzania may hear unresolved disputes, subject to any mandatory rights under applicable law.

14. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the platform changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Questions may be sent to legal@mbio.co.tz or through our contact page.
